We are seeking to appoint Assistant and Associate Professors in the School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham. Roles can be in engineering biology, epigenetics, mycology, plant science, or RNA biology.
Applicants with a research portfolio that has demonstrable impact outside academia or strong potential for translation and application are of particular interest.

Employment: Full Time, Permanent.
Salary and Grade
Full time starting salary normally in the range £47,389 to £56,535 with potential progression to £63,606. Grade 8 (Assistant Professor), Grade 9 (Associate Professor).

Academic Development Programme
New Assistant Professors will undertake a 5‑year development programme, at the end of which they are expected to be promoted to Associate Professor. The programme offers a variety of development opportunities and time to reflect and develop.

The School is building strengths across microbiology, plant science, environmental genomics, toxicology, structural biology and molecular cell biology, and adopting three broad, challenge‑led research priorities: Understanding the Rules of Life, Addressing Global Change, and Sustainable Biology.

Responsibilities
* Deliver lectures and seminars and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
* Develop and innovate courses, including participation in examinations.
* Carry out innovative research, publish papers (journals, books, other materials), and write grant proposals.
* Obtain research grant funding.
* Contribute to school activities and participate in academic self‑governance.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant specialist subject area, have postdoctoral experience, a developing track record in high‑quality publishing, and an emerging portfolio (or clear potential) of external research funding.
A commitment to delivering inclusive teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to postgraduate research supervision is essential.
