Senior residential childcare worker

Glasgow (Glasgow City)
CrossReach Trading Ltd.
Residential childcare worker
Posted: 15 September
Offer description

Overview

Do you have the experience, compassion and leadership to make a real difference in children’s lives? Then you might be just who we’re looking for.

Due to an increase in demand for our service, we’re expanding our team. At CrossReach, everyday moments like playing a game, cooking a meal or walking on the beach help build trust and change young lives. The children in our care have faced real challenges. Your role is to lead by example, help them feel safe, supported and ready for the future, and guide colleagues to do the same.

You’ll be based at Carraig View, working as part of a dedicated team. You’ll play a key part in shaping care plans, supporting children through daily life and helping colleagues grow in their practice.

Responsibilities

* Lead on care planning and keyworker responsibilities
* Support and guide colleagues in therapeutic practice
* Build strong, supportive relationships with children and their families
* Model approaches that focus on the why behind behaviours, not just the what

Qualifications and requirements

We’re looking for someone with significant experience in care or education, along with an HNC in Social Care and SVQ Level 3. You’ll also need a full manual driving licence, as outings are part of the role, and a reflective, compassionate approach that inspires others. Ideally you will also have Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) Level 1 or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards it.

Even though we’re a large charity, people matter here. Your ideas are valued, your growth is supported, and the children receive care that is personal, not one-size-fits-all.

Working pattern

You’ll work a mix of early, late and weekend shifts on a 3-week rolling rota. There will also be the occasional sleepover, for which you’ll receive an additional £58.50 per night.

Ready to lead a team that helps everyday moments change lives? We’d love to hear from you.

Opened in 2021, our service has a clear purpose: to help young people grow in confidence, engage with education, and play an active role in the community around them. Together, we help create those small, steady steps that lead to brighter futures.

Benefits and development

We offer a range of benefits typical for our sector: exclusive retail and leisure discounts via our rewards scheme and the Blue Light Discount card; a generous contributory pension plan and death in service benefit; enhanced family-friendly policies; a health cash plan; and access to a care concierge service.

We support your training and development, including financial support for professional memberships, to help you learn and grow in ways that are right for you.

Organisation and ethos

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years. Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland and are part of the Church of Scotland. We aim to provide social care services and resources in Christ’s name to support people in challenging circumstances.

Ethos and legal requirements

As we work in Christ’s name, the role requires you to have a Christian faith and be able to uphold our Christian ethos. This is an Occupational Requirement under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.

This post requires you to be a member of the PVG Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and meet the standards for registration.

We will check entitlement to work in the UK for all prospective employees. We are committed to attracting a diverse and talented team and to creating an inclusive environment where people belong, thrive and be their best.
