Salary: £84 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience)

Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their early learning journey?
GSL Education are inviting applications for a dedicated and compassionate ASD Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils in Sunderland. This rewarding role involves working one-to-one or in small groups with children on the Autism Spectrum, helping them to access learning, develop social communication skills, and thrive within the classroom environment.
Role Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ASD Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive and welcoming primary school. You will play a vital role in the classroom, providing tailored support to pupils with ASD, helping them access learning and develop key social and academic skills. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement strategies that enable children to overcome challenges and meet their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of ASD TA:
* Support pupils with ASD in mainstream or specialist primary school settings.
* Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to specific learning and behavioural needs.
* Promote engagement through structured routines, visual aids, and personalised learning approaches.
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to ensure consistency of support.
* Encourage the development of social skills, independence, and emotional regulation.
* Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to review meetings and reports.
Requirements for the role of ASD Teaching Assistant (TA):
* Experience supporting children with Autism in an educational or care setting.
* A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to support.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of ASD-specific strategies such as PECS, TEACCH, or sensory integration (desirable).
* A relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred but not essential.
* · An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
