Teaching Assistant (L2/L3) – Ferryhill & Newton Aycliffe
Milk Education is seeking a confident, experienced, and proactive Teaching Assistant (Level 2 or Level 3) to work across welcoming primary schools in Ferryhill, Newton Aycliffe and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant with strong classroom experience, particularly within SEND settings, who is ready to take on a higher level of responsibility supporting teaching and learning.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who can support whole-class learning, deliver targeted interventions, and provide tailored support to pupils, including those with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Support teaching and learning across the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
• Deliver small group interventions to raise attainment in core subjects
• Provide 1:1 support where required, including pupils with SEND
• Assist in preparing, adapting, and delivering learning resources
• Support behaviour management and promote positive learning behaviours
• Lead phonics, reading, maths, and literacy interventions
• Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND, in line with school strategies
• Contribute to pupil assessments and progress tracking
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting
• Strong SEND experience is highly desirable
• Experience delivering interventions and supporting pupil progress
• Good understanding of the primary curriculum and classroom expectations
• Confident supporting behaviour management strategies
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proactive, reliable, and able to take initiative in the classroom
• Passion for supporting children’s learning and development
