Job Overview
Within the boundaries of ESM Power's agreed scope of works, ensure that electrical equipment is commissioned according to industry, DNO, manufacturer, and regulatory requirements. The equipment should be in a functional, safe-to-energize state, ready for operational service, and handed over to the client, all within the agreed project timescales and budgets.
Main Duties
1. Take overall responsibility for the successful commissioning of electrical systems up to and including 132kV, ensuring project milestones are met within budget.
2. Liaise with the engineering team to ensure adherence to the ESM Power Electrical Safe System of Work during commissioning and energization.
3. Report to and coordinate with the Major Projects Operations Manager on current and upcoming projects.
4. Ensure availability of necessary tools and equipment, and that commissioning engineers are trained and competent in their use.
5. Provide live reporting to project managers and commissioning engineers.
6. Contribute to project programs and monitor progress throughout.
7. Provide project overview and specifications at project kickoff.
8. Manage the commissioning team, ensuring adequate resources.
9. Develop commissioning plans for each scheme and oversee site activities accordingly.
10. Produce monthly reports on commissioning progress.
11. Collaborate with Business Development on estimates.
12. Review subcontractor orders and manage their delivery for commissioning activities.
13. Manage competence and training for all commissioning staff.
14. Coordinate with DNO, NG, third parties, and customers to define the scope of commissioning activities across control boundaries.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly mobile, motivated, and experienced professional with a proven track record in supporting teams in demanding, customer-focused environments. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential. Excellent communication skills at all levels are required to foster strong relationships within ESM Power and externally.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum Level 4 (HNC) in Electrical Engineering; Degree preferred. Extensive relevant experience may be considered.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
* At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
* Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of motivating others.
* Flexible and adaptable with strong management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
