Job summary

This post is for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Rheumatology. This is a whole time, 12 month post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

There is a requirement for on-calls with this role, this will be working on the ST4+ rota.

Applicants must be eligible for full Registration with the GMC at time of appointment.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Participate in the initial assessment and management of patients, supervising more junior members of the team.
* To lead inpatient ward rounds to ensure the on-going clinical management of patients is appropriate.
* To support the discharge of patients, to a place of safety, in a timely manner.
* Participate in or lead the acute take, to provide senior clinical decisions, with the support of consultant clinicians.
* Contribute to the Medical Emergency Team (MET). Lead cardiac arrest calls.
* Contribute to GIM/medical speciality clinics.
* Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties.
* Advise junior trainees and ANPs about management of patients.
* Develop skills in managing the ward to avoid unnecessary patient delays and maintain good clinical care to all patients.
* To participate in clinical audit and or quality improvement (QI) project.
* To participate in continuing professional development.
* Educational supervision will be provided.
* To maintain a portfolio of training.
* To comply with Trust policies and procedures, have (and maintain) GMC registration /licensing.
