Overview
Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to join our team at the Oxford Area School District. The ideal candidate will possess strong assessment and intervention skills, providing support to students, families, and staff to promote emotional, social, and academic success. This full-time position requires collaboration with educators and parents to create a positive learning environment and address the diverse needs of our student population.
Responsibilities
* Conduct psychoeducational assessments to evaluate students’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
* Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support plans for students with special needs.
* Provide counseling and therapeutic interventions to students facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
* Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify student needs and develop strategies for academic and behavioral improvement.
* Facilitate crisis intervention and provide support during emergencies or traumatic events.
* Conduct workshops and training sessions for staff and parents on mental health topics and effective strategies to support students.
* Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary, maintaining detailed records of assessments and interventions.
* Advocate for students’ rights and access to appropriate resources and services.
* Stay current with best practices and developments in school psychology and special education.
* Participate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to school-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing student well-being.
Requirements
* Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or a related field.
* Valid PA state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist.
* Strong knowledge of psychological assessment tools and techniques.
* Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and staff.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment for all students.
* Familiarity with special education law and procedures is a plus.
* Proficiency in using technology and software for assessment and documentation purposes.
