Title: Building Surveyor (Full Time)
Location: HOME / FIELD-BASED
This is a unique and rare role for a candidate with limited construction qualifications and experience. This role will provide the candidate with a structured and tailored training programme exposing them to varying experiences within Building Surveying discipline working closely with experienced Chartered Surveyors.
Building Surveyor Role / Summary of the Role
This role forms part of a larger project management team overseeing the installation of telecommunication cables into clients’ properties.
This role in specific is to audit the process from inception through to completion.
The role includes carrying out diligent site inspections and accurately reporting observations as well as managing relationships between clients, service providers and health and safety consultants.
The sites are located nationally but this role is London based and range from small, converted apartment blocks to large modern purpose-built apartment blocks.
There is much scope for growth within this role and within the organisation generally depending on the candidate’s ambitions and willingness to progress.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
* Liaising with various parties such as the internal administration team, clients and managing agents to arrange allocated site inspections in the southern region.
* Attend site, mainly alone to assess the specification of works produced by the service providers to determine the feasibility of the installations and determine any possible issues such as Health & Safety.
* A key duty of the site inspection is to inspect (non-intrusive) fire compartmentation and fire stopping to assess the current condition and proposals of repair by the service provider post installation.
* To record and form an audit report following your site inspection (word template provided).
* To attend conference calls and/or face to face meetings, providing regular updates to the clients, surveying facilities manager, and service providers.
* From time to time to attend conference calls and/or face to face meetings, discussing issues raised during your inspections which require the input or clarification to 3rd parties such as Clients, Fire Risk Assessors, Health and Safety consultants.
* To review and confirm Risk Assessments, Method Statements and/or Construction Phase plans issued by service providers and where necessary to provide support to service providers to ensure all documents are complete and correct.
* To carry out site inspections for the purpose of Post Works Inspections (PWI’s) to inspect completed works, checking quality of works, fire compartmentation and fire stopping etc. Where sites include suspended ceiling tiles then you are expected to use ladders to review works above the ceiling level (equipment provided).
* To record and form post works inspection report following your site inspection (word template provided).
* Review and confirm handover documents produced and issued by the service provider.
