Do you want to drive forward the circular economy and influence future waste legislation?
We’re looking for a Senior Advisor to join our Producer Responsibility team to help deliver the Government’s Resources and Waste Strategy.
You’ll work with Environment Agency colleagues, Defra, UK devolved administrations, and Industry to deliver significant changes as we reform legislation. You can make a difference.
You’ll need to be adaptable, self-motivated, and able to translate policy into reality.
You’ll be involved in all aspects of our work, especially the following:
1. Working closely with stakeholders across government, industry, and the Environment Agency to influence and implement legislation for workstreams including Packaging and Deposit Return Scheme, with support to other workstreams as needed.
2. Providing technical advice within the Environment Agency and to industry.
3. Driving forward reforms to waste management, changing the way waste is managed in England, working with like-minded people towards the same goal. This may include helping shape digital systems for waste management or delving into policy development.
We’re a dispersed team and collaborate with various technical and project teams across the country.
While we use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel, some travel and overnight stays may be required.
The team
You’ll join our Producer Responsibility Team, which leads on reforming Waste Regulations to ensure the government’s ambitions to conserve resources by minimizing waste are achieved.

Experience/skills Required

The role is based at an EA Office location, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.

Applications are assessed “blind” based on your answers to competency questions. Interviews will be conducted via MS Teams within two weeks of the closing date.
If you agree to be placed on a reserve list, your details will be held for six months, and you may be offered an alternative post.
