Contractual hours: 37 Basis: Full time Job category/type: Operations Energy Officer National Museums NI is a leading cultural institution and is responsible for ensuring that its significant collection is developed, cared for and accessible to the widest possible audience. Almost one million people enjoy our four museums each year, and through loans, research, community activity and digital programmes we engage a much wider audience than those who physically visit our museums. We believe that our museums can play an important and valuable role at the heart of society. Through our work we preserve, protect and promote the region's cultural assets, knowledge and collective memory. We provide shared and trusted spaces to explore who we are, where we have come from and where we might be going. We engage and work in partnership with the public to share stories and care for and present a vast range of objects bringing important cultural, educational, social and scientific ideas to life. We unite the past, present and future; enhance health and well-being; make places more attractive to live in, work and visit; and, create positive economic impact. We inspire present and future generations of pioneers, designers, makers and community leaders. Our museums are loved and trusted public institutions: they provide joy, prompt reflection, and foster curiosity about the world around us. A strategic impact area of National Museums NI's Corporate Strategy 2025-2030 is Environment. As part of our strategic approach in this area over the next five years we have commitment to enshrine sustainable practice throughout the organisation's activities and through the management of our resources. We are on an exciting journey towards a more sustainable future - reducing our energy and water consumption, associated costs, increasing efficiency across our estate and supporting our net zero targets. We were one of the first public sector bodies in Northern Ireland to carry out a carbon audit and the creation of an emissions target and carbon action plan which sit as part of our wider environmental sustainability ambitions. The Energy Officer will play a critical role in supporting National Museums NI's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. This role is responsible for driving forward the delivery of the museums Carbon Action Plan, reducing energy and water consumption, and promoting energy efficiency across the museum sites. Working closely with the museums Energy Monitoring Group and wider Facilities and site-based teams, the Energy Officer will help embed a culture of energy awareness and support data-driven decision-making to achieve our environmental targets and ambitions.
