Control Room Operator Salary: £32,409 per annum (37.5 hours per week) Three shift rotation including WK 1 - 6am-2pm, WK 2 - 2pm-10pm and WK 3 - 10pm-6am overtime paid at 1.5 times In this role you will control the flow and processing of waste by utilizing remote control overhead gantry cranes and refining equipment. We are all innovative and as such you will take the lead in implementing best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and process operations. Accountability is key in everything we do, and this role is no different. You will be accountable for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, and cleaning to minimize downtime. Your key responsibilities: You will diagnose operating problems and undertake necessary corrective action You’ll provide accurate and detailed records of all plant operations, settings and stoppages and maintain shift logs You will support the engineering teams with a programme of planned preventative maintenance, inspection and cleaning to minimise downtime and provide records of recurrent faulting Be aware of changes to health, safety and environmental legislation and Company policies to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented Implement and ensure compliance with all company policies, processes, and procedures Maintain stock control & accurate reporting of contract & non contract waste Assist site Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader in environmental monitoring, health & safety, behavioural safety observations and KPI’s. Essential criteria for this role: Experience of SCADA systems or position of similar responsibility ideally in a process plant Proven track record of working to clearly defined KPIs Experience of implementing new processes and developments Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance Able to communicate at all levels throughout the company and externally Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational environment Knowledge of MBT operations Computer literate Full UK driving licence Biffa – we’re changing the way people think about waste At Biffa, we love working with waste.
