Metro.co.uk is where the UK comes catch up on everything from dating drama (looking at you Coldplay Kiss Cam) and money-saving hacks to that travel destination blowing up on TikTok, we cover the stuff that makes up modern life. We’re growing fast, and we need a talented multimedia lifestyle reporter and feature writer to join our London team and help us start the conversation.

* You’re the person your friends turn to for advice on everything from mental wellbeing to navigating a messy breakup.
* You have an opinion on everything from the latest foodie trend to the horrors of the property market.
* Your social feeds are a perfectly curated source of inspiration, and you can spot a story on TikTok, Reddit, or X before anyone else.
* You don’t just follow trends; you get ahead of them and find the stories no one else is telling.
What you’ll actually be doing:
You’ll be at the heart of our lifestyle desk, unearthing and creating stories that get our readers talking. One day you could be interviewing an expert on sex and relationships, the next you could be shooting a video on a must-visit travel spot. You'll be expected to pitch and deliver original, agenda-setting features and bring in exclusives that our competitors will wish they’d found. This isn't just about writing articles; it's about creating content in every form - video, social, interviews - that feels fresh, bold, and unapologetically Metro.
We need you to have:
* A distinctive, lively writing style and the ability to find a unique angle.
* Proven experience creating killer content for a digital audience. Video skills are a must.
* A contacts book that’s bursting with interesting people, from PRs and experts to bloggers and community groups.
* A solid understanding of media law, copyright, and the UK Editors’ Code of Practice.
* Great attention to detail and the ability to work at pace.
