Referment is working with a high-growth, VC-focused law firm to hire a junior corporate lawyer to join their expanding venture practice.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a genuinely VC-native environment where you’ll work directly with founders and investors from day one - not filter through layers of associates.
The Role
You’ll advise venture-backed startups from pre‑seed through Series A+, working on:
* Venture fundraising rounds (£500k–£10m+)
* Term sheets, investment agreements & shareholder agreements
* Convertible instruments
* Corporate governance & restructurings
* Due diligence & data rooms
* Board and statutory matters
The firm works with tech-enabled businesses across AI, fintech, deep tech, gaming, defence, fashion, aerospace, and crypto.
You’ll work closely with a senior VC lawyer trained at top international firms and rapidly take ownership of live deals.
Experience
Who We’re Looking For
* 1–3 years PQE in corporate law
* Trained at an international firm, boutique, or strong regional practice
* Strong drafting skills and commercial awareness
* VC / startup exposure helpful but not essential
Mindset
* Ambitious and progression‑driven
* Curious about startups and venture capital
* Comfortable with ambiguity and responsibility
* Commercial and founder‑minded
* Self‑directed and accountable
Not suitable if you prefer rigid structures, narrowly‑defined roles, or slow progression.
Why This Opportunity?
If You’re In Big Law
* Faster promotion curve, earlier deal leadership, real client exposure
If You’re In a Boutique / regional Firm
* Higher quality deals, real VC focus, better trajectory
For Everyone
* Work with tier‑1 investors
* Specialise deeply in venture law
* Build a name in the VC ecosystem
* Develop client relationships from the ground up
If you’re an ambitious corporate lawyer looking to build a serious VC career, this opportunity gives you the platform to do it properly.
