As a band 8A Manager you will be expected to provide a supportive learning environment for trainee sonographers. You will be expected to support participation and leadership of the centrally registered audit and continuous improvement programmes.

The Trust ultrasound department is based at Queens Hospital, King Georges Hospital, and satellite CDCs in Hornchurch and Barking.

Main duties of the job

•The post holder will act as a Site Lead Ultrasound Manager in a job share with the existing Site Lead Manager and will be responsible for managing and upholding a safe and effective Ultrasound Imaging Service. The post holder will mainly undertake managerial duties but on occasions may be required to take on a clinical role.

•They will provide regular feedback and work with the other Site modality Lead Ultrasound Managers on compliance with key performance indicators for this service and will provide supervision and specialist advice and expertise to the ultrasound team of Sonographers, Students, and support workers, in addition to the wider multi­ disciplinary team.

•They will ensure all aspects of clinical governance are delivered and monitored including being responsible for leading regular peer review audits and action plans, this will involve liaising with the Practice Educator Lead Sonographer, Site Modality Lead Sonographers and Clinical Lead Sonographers to ensure effective plans are in place for any learning needs identified, such as inductions and clinical competencies of new staff. There will also be management oversight of the rota to ensure we are meeting the demands of the DMOl incorporating 2 week waits and urgent patients. They will also actively develop the service in conjunction with national and local NHS guidelines and directives and ensure that staff promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other health care professionals.

•They will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with those involved to ensure the appropriate imaging, reporting and management of the patient is provided when and where necessary. They will undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice adhering to national and local ultrasound guidelines and maintain a high professional and technical standard ensuring that all staff working in their area maintains similar standards.

They will assist in maintaining integration of the ultrasound scanning service and be responsible for developing, and regularly reviewing, standardised departmental protocols and participate in research programmes.

They will attend and represent the Ultrasound Imaging service at the group imaging meetings across Northeast London (NEL) contributing to the strategic development of the services across the Imaging Network.

1. To hold a BSc Hons degree or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography
2. Current and up to date state registration through HCPC or other regulatory body.
3. Managerial qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
