We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with ideally several years or more of expertise in supporting 24x7 service availability and driving the growth of our cloud services based our Edinburgh hub.
The role is hybrid requiring 2 days a week in the Edinburgh office.
What You'll Do
4. Design, implement, and operate highly available cloud infrastructure, ensuring 24×7 service reliability, performance, and scalability.
5. Lead provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of cloud environments, with a strong focus on automation and operational excellence.
6. Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines within AWS environments using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
7. Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions for deployment, configuration, and monitoring using Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
8. Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and production issues, minimizing downtime and leading effective root‑cause analysis.
9. Ensure security, monitoring, and observability best practices, implementing alerting and system health tracking using Splunk and open‑source tools.
10. Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, product, DevOps, and security teams, while participating in on‑call rotations and optimizing database performance for scale and resilience.
What You'll Bring
11. Extensive experience in operations engineering or infrastructure management, supporting production systems in high‑availability, 24×7 environments.
12. Deep expertise in AWS cloud services, with a strong understanding of cloud architecture, scalability, and operational best practices.
13. Considerable hands‑on experience with automation and orchestration tools, including Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
14. Advanced scripting capability using Python and Bash to automate deployment, configuration, and operational workflows.
15. Strong background in cloud‑native technologies, including CI/CD pipelines, containerised applications, and Kubernetes‑based platforms.
16. Solid Linux administration experience, covering system configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and infrastructure support at scale, alongside database optimisation and configuration.
17. Proven ability to design and operate secure, scalable, and reliable systems, with knowledge of cloud security best practices, strong problem‑solving skills, and demonstrated technical leadership or mentorship.
