Title: Principal Structural Engineer
Location: Derby
About The Role
* Lead structural engineering design and review from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction
* Champion technical quality, innovation and best-practice design standards across projects
* Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, supporting professional growth and chartership
* Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as the lead technical contact
* Provide expert structural engineering advice across diverse sectors
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, transportation, geotechnical and environmental specialists
* Promote and implement BIM workflows and efficiency in structural modelling and documentation
About You
Essential:
* Typically 8+ years consultancy experience in UK structural engineering
* Strong track record of leading complex building and infrastructure-related structural design
* Proficient with structural analysis and design tools (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, STAAD, Robot / similar) and CAD/BIM packages (AutoCAD, Revit)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proven leadership, project management and client engagement experience
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Experience working on large-scale or mixed-use developments
* Experience within multidisciplinary consultancies
* Demonstrable experience in delivering structural services for public sector frameworks or repeat-client work
