The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced Energy/Commissioning Engineer to join our Consultancy team in Glasgow. The role will involve the use of specialist IES data analysis tools to assist building managers/operators in support of active energy/maintenance programmes and energy efficiency initiatives.
You will work with Energy Metering / BMS datasets looking for trends/patterns/anomalies and support clients in understanding their Data/Energy/HVAC systems.
In this client facing role, you will conduct site visits, collate datasets and interrogate performance data from operational buildings before advising clients on opportunities to improve building operations.
You will have the opportunity to work as part of our established, international consulting team, learning from experts who have worked on high-profile international projects.
In support of business development activities, you will also accompany colleagues to client meetings to provide technical guidance and logistical/operational support where needed.
Duties will include:
1. Using specialist IES tools to extract the data needed
2. Responding to data-related client queries and keeping track of these
3. Analysing Energy/BMS data to identify trends
4. Setting up processes/workflows to make working with data more efficient
5. Researching new ways to make use of data
6. Producing reports/charts/visuals to communicate trends to non-specialists
7. Presenting information generated from data to clients and building managers
The Candidate
We are looking for an experienced Energy/Commissioning Engineer. Skills include the following:
Essential Skills:
8. Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline such as: Mechanical/Electrical, Building Services, Sustainability and/or Data Science engineering
9. Data analysis skills – ability to extract and analyse complex data sets, making use of software-based tools/scripts as required
10. Clear and confident communication skills
11. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Desirable Skills:
12. Field experience and an understanding of the building commissioning process
13. Understanding of Energy Metering / BMS controls – a desire to improve knowledge and understanding in this area is essential
14. Awareness of UK leading BMS systems and Energy Monitoring infrastructure
15. Knowledge of design, installation and commissioning of building HVAC systems
16. Familiar with the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP).
17. Experience of using building simulation software will be an advantage but not essential initially; full training of the IESVE software will be provided on progression through the company.
