37hrs/week (24 month fixed term contract)

The Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Senior Research Nurse to join our team. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to groundbreaking research and provide high-quality nursing care for participants with metabolic conditions. The CRF spans Clinical Research Facilities at the QEUH/RHC and GRI, with satellite units at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Gartnavel General Hospital, and the Dental Hospital, delivering a streamlined service to investigators for efficient and safe clinical research.
About The Role
As a Senior Research Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering research studies. Key responsibilities include:
Providing high-quality nursing care to participants with metabolic conditions.
Coordinating the recruitment, treatment, monitoring, and follow-up of research participants.
Collecting and documenting accurate study data while adhering to research principles.
Collaborating with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary team in managing your own caseload of research patients.
This role requires flexibility to meet the demands of research studies, including unsocial hours and weekend work as necessary. The ability to travel between all sites within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHS GGC) is essential.
Essential Requirements
First Level Registered Nurse, educated to degree level (or working towards).
Significant, current, and relevant clinical experience.
Proficiency in clinical and technical skills, including venepuncture, ILS or PILS, and IV drug administration.
Knowledge of current research regulations and governance requirements.
Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Motivated, with excellent team management skills and a commitment to personal development.
Good IT skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
Experience in both academic and commercial research environments.
Comprehensive understanding of research regulations and governance. The successful candidate will work to research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent, and ethical considerations, demonstrating an understanding of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice.
This post requires PVG Scheme membership/record. Applicants who are not current members of the required regulatory group (i.e., child and/or adult) must submit an application to Disclosure Scotland before commencing the role.
Working Hours and Environment Nursing cover is provided from 0800-1700 Monday to Friday, with typical working hours of 0830-1630. However, flexibility is required to accommodate research study needs, including unsocial hours and weekend work where necessary. The ability to travel between all NHS GGC sites is an essential aspect of this role.
