3 month contract role with a Local Authority Job Summary: • Provide advanced social work support within Children’s Services, focusing on safeguarding children and supporting families through effective intervention and assessment. • Work as a senior member of the team to manage complex cases, provide professional guidance to colleagues and ensure high standards of safeguarding practice. • Deliver a strengths-based and family safeguarding approach to improve outcomes for children and young people. • Support the team in assessing risk, implementing care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and safeguarding legislation. Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Manage a complex caseload involving children, young people and families requiring safeguarding interventions. • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify risks, needs and appropriate support. • Implement and review care and protection plans in line with statutory requirements and safeguarding procedures. • Apply the Family Safeguarding model to support families and improve outcomes for children. • Provide guidance and professional support to social workers within the team. • Participate in strategy discussions, child protection conferences and court proceedings where required. • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including education, health, police and community organisations. • Monitor and review safeguarding interventions to ensure effective service delivery and positive outcomes. • Maintain accurate case records and ensure documentation complies with statutory and organisational standards. • Contribute to service development and promote best practice within the team. Skills/Experience: • Qualified Social Worker with at least 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in children’s social care. • Strong experience in family safeguarding and child protection practice. • Experience managing complex safeguarding cases involving children and families. • Knowledge of relevant children’s social care legislation, safeguarding frameworks and statutory guidance. • Strong assessment, analytical and decision-making skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing for court and case documentation. • Ability to support and guide colleagues within a team environment. • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. • Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Additional Information: • Bi-Weekly Payments. • Location: Darlaston (West locality). • Working Pattern: Hybrid working – approximately 2–3 days in the office. • Working Hours: 37 hours per week (09:00 – 17:30). • Rate: £33.30 per hour (UMB) • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience required. • Family Safeguarding experience is essential. • Driver essential due to travel requirements within the locality. • Completion of the DfE form is mandatory – applications without the completed form will be rejected.
