Quantity Surveyor / Estimator – Luton
Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator in Luton to join a successful and growing construction business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional who enjoys managing costs, improving margins, and helping deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Location: Luton
Salary: £60, – £80,+ per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for a range of construction projects.
2. Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
3. Complete quantity take-offs and analyse labour and material costs.
4. Work with project teams to identify risks and reduce cost exposure.
5. Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
6. Maintain accurate records for estimates, variations, and contract changes.
7. Monitor project financial performance and report on budget variances.
8. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
9. Keep up to date with market trends, materials, and construction regulations.
Essential Skills & Experience
10. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or similar role within construction.
11. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project delivery.
12. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field is preferred but not essential.
13. Experience using estimating or quantity surveying software.
14. Good Microsoft Office skills.
15. Strong analytical and numerical skills.
16. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
17. Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
18. Knowledge of contract law and construction regulations would be an advantage.
