Main duties of the job
* Performing forensic sampling, including blood tests for road traffic offences.
* Signposting and making referrals; supporting vulnerabilities and helping patients break patterns of re-offending.
* Delivering substance misuse therapies.
* Assessing and caring for detainees and staff in custody suites.
* Promoting good personal healthcare.
* Collaborating with Liaison and Diversion services to identify mental health needs.

Job responsibilities
This role is an excellent alternative career opportunity for Registered General Nurses (RGNs) and qualified Paramedics with over 3 years of post-qualification experience.
Custody environments are dynamic and lively, with no two days alike. Detention periods can last up to 24 hours, during which we provide high-level care addressing issues from substance dependency to acute medical conditions.
Our professionals are trained to collect forensic samples to assist police investigations. Experience in forensics is not necessary, as training and support will be provided to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

This position is based within Carlisle Custody Suite.

Qualifications
* Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic
Experience
* Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience
* Experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, prisons, or as a Paramedic Practitioner is advantageous but not mandatory.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
