Job Summary
Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist to cover a maternity contract for 6-12 months. This part‑time role is 22 hours per week, mornings, supporting the lead nurse.
Responsibilities
* Ensure patient comfort, obtain consent, and perform venepuncture.
* Accurately record patient details and test requests.
* Store samples in appropriate containers and monitor quality standards.
* Provide physical, social and emotional care during procedures.
* Recognise and report situations requiring protection.
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to health, safety and security standards.
* Participate in professional development and contribute to service improvement.
Qualifications
* Minimum Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
* Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge in venepuncture.
Experience
* Experience working in a healthcare setting, ideally primary care.
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
* Confidential, compassionate and respectful approach; respect patient dignity.
* Effective communication and understanding of patient needs.
