If you do, then we’re looking for someone just like you to join Technology and Data’s Customer Payments team as a Product Analyst.
About Technology and Data - Customer Payments
With London’s population set to hit the 10 million mark by 2030, keeping them, and the millions more who visit the capital each year, moving will be key if the city is to remain a world-class destination. Our job in Customer Payments is to improve the efficiency of the payment system that enables millions of journeys every day to take place across the London transport network, whilst still maintaining our high level of customer service. We make sure that our customers can make their journeys knowing that they can trust us to always charge them the right fare for their journey and deliver an exceptional standard of customer service.
Our work is diverse and is fundamental to TfL’s financial sustainability, it includes:
1. Ensuring we collect TfL’s c.£5bn (pre-Covid) of revenue each year
2. Managing, improving and procuring the Revenue Collection Contract that underpins the TfL Revenue Collection system
3. Delivering improvements and changes to the way customers pay for their travel e.g. Improving the Oyster ticketing solution and introducing Contactless payments
4. Managing and developing TfL’s concessionary and free travel schemes
5. Providing fares policy advice to the Mayor
6. Predicting and monitoring demand trends
The Product Analyst focuses on the first two outcomes.
A day in the life of Customer Payments Product Analyst
There is never a dull day in the Customer Payments Product Management team. At any one time you will be working on a number of different initiatives and will have to continually adjust to the stream of new challenges. You will need to be able to manage your own workload and matrix manage other resources working with you to do so too. You’ll need to prioritise activities and speak up when you need more support from the team.
This role will be focussed on supporting the procurement of the Revenue Collection Contract which expires in August 2025. You may be asked to prepare the analysis for a summary pack on our Customer Payments technology aspirations to ensure we have the right mechanisms to deliver them in the new contract. To deliver this, you will work with the relevant subject matter experts to understand the current landscape, known business needs and our Change roadmap. You will work with the stakeholders and coordinate their input into the analysis, ensuring that you challenge them to make the concepts easy to understand. You may carry out some desk-based research to understand what other organisations are doing in the Customer Payments space. You will call on your strategic thinking, analytical and effective communication skills to bring together the analysis in a well presented and structured summary presentation pack.

12. Excellent communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise content for presentations and reports. (E)
13. An understanding of transport related fares and payments (D)
14. The ability to define, develop and deliver product strategies and product roadmaps (D)
15. Good financial and numeracy skill (D)
16. Experience in a business orientated Product Manager (or similar) role (D)
