The post holder will provide high quality nursing care and work towards developing and working within a cohesive multidisciplinary team. The expectations within this job description will be met through Leadership, hands on clinical practice, education and training, and research. The post holder will also have the opportunity to develop skills towards attaining a Senior Practitioner post in the future if they so wish.
Main duties of the job
The role includes the provision of advanced nursing care to patients during surgical pre- operative assessment clinic and includes performing a full health assessment and co-ordinating all aspects of the patient’s admission. Assessments are conducted through a combination of face to face, telephone and electronic appointments and the successful candidate must be flexible in their approach to individual needs.
The Qualified Nurses post is characterised by five principal role functions: -

ØAn Education, Training and Development Function
ØResearch and Evaluation Function

Desirable criteria
3. 1.Registered General Nurse Diploma in Nursing ENB 998 or equivalent
4. 2. Physical Assessment and clinical reasoning Certificate
Knowledge
Essential criteria
5. 1. In previous experience experience or knowledge in history taking A&E or ITU
6. 2. Experience in Orthopaedic Nursing
Desirable criteria
7. 1. Pre-operative assessment experience
8. 2. Experience in history taking and interrelating blood results
9. 3. Venepuncture competent
Skills
Essential criteria
10. 1. Excellent communication and written skills
11. 2. Ability to evaluate and interpret data from various sources
12. 3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
