Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist - General Adult Psychiatry, Inpatients (10PA) at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. This post is full time (10PA) and located in Barrow in Furness, on the edge of the Lake District. The role involves joining the Older Adult Inpatient team on Ramsay Ward within the Dane Garth Unit at Furness General Hospital (FGH).
RRP payment is payable. A Recruitment & Retention Premia of £40k is payable on commencement of employment. Eligibility criteria apply. Staff currently employed by the Trust would not be eligible for this premia.
The postholder will participate in the Consultant On Call rota (0.5 PA + 5% supplement) for which additional remuneration is payable.
Role and Team
Work with a multidisciplinary team including nurse consultant, psychologist, clinical leads, community mental health nurses, occupational therapy, HCA and trainee advanced clinical practitioner. The postholder will have the support of a resident doctor and SAS Doctor. There is an active monthly peer group meeting of medical colleagues within the Cumbria locality.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the Older Adult Inpatient team on Ramsay Ward.
* Participate in on-call arrangements and contribute to on-call duties as required.
* Engage in clinical governance and multidisciplinary collaboration as part of the unit and wider Trust.
Responsibilities and Duties
* At least 2.5 SPAs as standard for a full-time post, with flexibility to enhance to support wider Trust ambitions.
* Excellent peer support group participation.
* Study leave budget of £3,000 over 3 years, or up to £5,000 over 3 years for newly qualified Consultants.
* Opportunities to be a clinical supervisor.
* Relocation package available up to £8,000.
Location and Conditions
The post is based on Ramsay Ward within the Dane Garth Unit, Furness General Hospital (FGH), a large district general hospital with around 268 beds and a full range of specialties including A&E.
Qualifications and Criteria
* Full GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the interview date.
* Section 12 Approval at the time of commencing employment and Approved Clinician Status or eligibility to obtain it.
