Job overview The father peer support worker role is to work alongside qualified health visitors to ensure that fathers of unborn babies and children to 5 years old are supported to achieve their full potential. The post holder is required to inspire the fathers they work with and to encourage self belief that fathers have an important and unique role which contributes to their own care, especially mental health. The father support worker will work with fathers to build positive relationships with their unborn and young children to enable positive physical emotional and social development of their children’s development. If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role]. As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification. Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service. Either on a 1:1 basis or through group work This role enables the peer support worker to draw upon their own lived experiences of being a father which they can utilise to inspire and support self-belief that fathers have an important and unique role who can contribute to their own care, especially mental health, building a positive relationship with their unborn and young children to enable positive physical emotional and social development of their children’s development Working for our organisation Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) employ around 4000 talented colleagues who are very much appreciated, valued, and respected.
