Job Summary

To provide project management and project support on projects of varying sizes within the Estates Department.

To be responsible for obtaining feasibility, design and cost information to aid in the development of funding for projects affecting the Trust's estate.

To lead on smaller projects from conception to completion.

Delegated responsibility to deliver projects up to agreed budgetary and risk thresholds.

To be responsible for planning, developing and implementing procedures and systems designed to increase the overall effectiveness of accommodation and space management.

Main duties of the job

Develop project plans, setting clear timescales, objectives and milestones.
Write detailed works specifications
Delegate project tasks to suitably skilled internal staff and external contractors
Receive and interpret client briefs and work with team members to design solutions incorporating relevant codes or practice, Health Technical Memoranda (HTM), Health Building Notes (HBN) and statutory requirements
Communicate complex information, analyse, compare and decide on options with clients to enable to work specifications to be formed
Support the development of business cases with clients
Adhere to the Trust procurement policy to obtain competitive prices from external contractors and appoint via evaluation exercises
Manage contractor's in line with Trust's Contractor Management Policy
Provide regular stage and key milestone reports on project progress.
Maintain project folders, risk registers and decision logs
Represent Estates at meetings either by routine or to cover colleague absence.
Log and manage requests for changes to space throughout the Trust site.

Essential

Education, Qualifications & Training

Minimum diploma Level 3 award in relevant discipline
Qualification in Project Management and Health Safety (Prince2/NEBOSH/IOSH/CDM)

Desirable

Educated to degree level or equivalent in the relevant discipline

Essential

Knowledge & Experience

Proven track record of project planning, implementation and completion
Significant experience of working in an administrative role within a complex organisational context (project planning, resource scheduling, updating construction drawings, chairing meetings etc)
Experience of working within Estates & Facilities services

Desirable

Experience of working in a NHS Environment
Ability to prepare technical drawings using CAD
