About us
Longtown Medical Centre is a small practice based in Longtown in Cumbria. We have a practice population of around 3,700 and an experienced and committed team of GPs, Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses, HCA and Frailty Coordinator, supported by our small but highly effective Reception and Administration teams.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. The following list is not exhaustive:
1. Provide high quality medical services to patients registered with the practice.
2. Provide a full range of services in line with the requirements of the GMS/PMS (17c) Contract and Enhanced Services Contracts.
3. Undertake duties such as prescription signing, prescribing reviews, telephone advice, triage, duty doctor, in accordance with the rota.
4. Manage long-term conditions in accordance with practice and national clinical guidelines.
5. Prescribe generically where possible and in accordance with the practice formulary.
6. Provide appropriate health promotion advice to all patients
7. Ensure good clinical governance is part of patient care and other practice activities.
8. Contribute to the development and implementation of practice guidelines, policies and procedures.
9. Practice evidence-based medicine.
10. Take ongoing responsibility for patients with difficult and complex problems including consistent follow-through.

Qualifications
Essential
11. MBBS or MBChB
12. Full GMC registration
13. On the Medical Performers List (and never removed for a detrimental reason)
14. Eligible to work in the UK
15. Membership of a recognised defence union

19. Or other relevant post-graduate qualification
