The St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales) is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Shop Manager to support the day-to-day running of our charity shop on a part time basis. You'll work closely with the Shop Manager to maximise sales, manage volunteers, and ensure our shop is a welcoming and vibrant place for customers and donors alike.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Shop Manager in achieving sales targets and income generation through donations, Gift Aid, recycling, and online selling.
* Help maintain high standards of merchandising and stock rotation to ensure a fresh and appealing shop floor.
* Assist in recruiting, training, and leading a team of volunteers.
* Deliver outstanding customer service and foster a "sales through service" culture.
* Take responsibility for the shop in the manager's absence, including key holding and cash handling.
* Contribute to the shop's social media presence and community engagement.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, SVP policies, and retail procedures.
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
* Retail experience with a proven track record of meeting targets.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Good level of English, Maths, and IT proficiency.
* Passion for charity retail and empathy with SVP's values.
Desirable:
* Experience in charity retail and working with volunteers.
* Knowledge of EPOS systems and visual merchandising.
* Understanding of the SVP and its mission.
