About Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community-focused provider delivering high-quality services to over one million people across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich, and Bexley. We employ almost 7,500 colleagues (Team LGT) and provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), University Hospital Lewisham (UHL), and over a dozen community sites. We also provide some services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. We are launching a new vision and values as part of LGT10 (the tenth anniversary of our Trust forming in 2013). Our values are Respect, Compassion, and Inclusion; Being accountable; Listening; Succeeding together.
Our hospitals and community sites provide a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency and planned care. The Trust is rated as good or outstanding in over three-quarters of the services inspected by the Care Quality Commission. Each year we perform thousands of procedures in our theatres, deliver many births, make hundreds of thousands of home/community visits, and provide extensive emergency care.
We are a training centre for medical students (King’s College London GKT School of Medical Education) and for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. We are pioneers in new roles to support changing patient needs and are one of the largest employers of physician associates in the country. We are committed to working with partners in the South East London Integrated Care System (ICS) and other formal partnerships to deliver the best outcomes for our communities.
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust requires two Locum Consultants for 12 months to join the Gastroenterology team. The posts will be based at QEH with occasional cross-site working at UHL. These posts are offered on a locum basis initially to support the expanding service, with a strong possibility of becoming substantive.
The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust operates across two acute sites: QEH and UHL, serving Greenwich and parts of Bexley with a combined population of over 300,000. Each site has a busy endoscopy department, performing around 9,000 procedures per site. Lewisham is the lead for Bowel Cancer Screening across the six local boroughs. This post is a 10 PA appointment and includes 3 endoscopy lists and 3 clinics per week, with participation in the on-call GI bleed rota.
