Overview
We are looking for an Electrical Project Manager to join our Engineering team supporting our operational business across the region. The role is based out of sites in the Northern region; you may live in the North East or North West (e.g., Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Darlington, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds). This is a mobile role covering the Northern region and a company car is provided; a full UK driving licence is required.
Main Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, provide best in class electrical engineering and project management services to the operating business, and develop cost effective solutions across the region.
* Ensure company electrical standards meet minimum legal requirements, CRH life saving rules, remain cost effective, and comply with changes in legislation.
* Support project managers with electrical designs, cost estimates and drawings to support capital projects.
* Assist operational staff with electrical maintenance and improvements within operational sites.
* Represent your region at monthly and national meetings with statutory responsibilities.
* Undertake statutory electrical maintenance within your geographical region.
* Manage and monitor electrical standards, site electrical maintenance schemes and procedures to meet legal requirements and control costs.
* Appoint and approve electrical competent staff and supporting contractor companies; audit contractors to ensure compliance with standards.
* Ensure projects are designed for the lowest total cost of ownership over the asset life.
* Develop relationships with key stakeholders at all levels; identify opportunities for cost saving through innovative solutions.
* Drive implementation and ensure adherence to best practice engineering procedures.
* Support plant development and automation including energy reduction programs.
* Ensure projects comply with Tarmac policy, appropriate standards and legislation.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
* Electrical Engineering Degree and Electrical Engineering qualifications (preferably 18th Edition); alternatively, extensive experience delivering an operational electrical engineering role in heavy industry or manufacturing related to 3-phase power.
* Working knowledge of Mines & Quarrying Act 1999 (experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal qualifications).
* Drawing skills and experience with process design and control.
* Working knowledge of project management processes; ability to estimate and scope work.
* HV and LV installations, earthing studies, MCC and VSD standards; PLC control and automation experience.
* Contract placement and management; ability to collaborate and drive engagement; resilience and self-awareness.
* Commercial insight to manage complex situations; ability to drive accountability and develop talent.
* Process knowledge in Concrete, Aggregate, Asphalt & Sand and Gravel advantageous.
* Ability to travel within the region; full UK driving licence required.
