At The Eatery, we take pride in serving freshly prepared, seasonal dishes in a relaxed and welcoming setting. We’re now looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team on a casual contract, offering flexibility to work around 20 hours per week.
The Role
As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll play a key role in supporting our chefs and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen. From preparing ingredients and keeping work areas spotless to helping with deliveries and general organisation, you’ll be an essential part of our back-of-house team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy, friendly kitchen environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities

Support chefs with basic food preparation and portioning tasks

Assist with plating and presentation of dishes where required
*
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen and work areas
*
Follow food safety, allergen, and health & safety procedures at all times
*
Help with receiving, checking, and correctly storing deliveries
*
Keep workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and well organised
*
Report any maintenance, stock, or quality issues to the Supervisor
*
Carry out other reasonable tasks as required to support the kitchen team
Skills & Experience Required

Basic understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices
*
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining standards

Ability to work efficiently and follow instructions in a busy environment

Flexible, reliable, and positive team player
*
Good communication and time management skills

Physically able to stand for long periods and carry out manual tasks
