Kitchen Assistant needed!
£12.85
Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
30 hour position - could be more as and when required. (5 days, 9-3pm)
Role is based at Washington Community Resource Centre NE38
The Kitchen Assistant will support the Assistant Cook and Cook in their roles to prepare nutritionally balanced meals to vulnerable adults who attend the day service.
The services operate 5 days per week, and the successful applicant would be required to work 9am - 3pm each day at Washington Community Resource Centre.
We are looking for suitably qualified/experienced staff with an immediate start date.
It is essential that you have the following skills and attributes:
Essential
* Level 1 Basic Food Hygiene qualification
* A basic understanding of Food Hygiene requirements and responsibilities
* A positive caring outlook and enabling attitude
* Excellent team working skills
Desirable
* Experience of working in a commercial kitchen and/or working within a Social Care environment
* Good written and communication skills
Kitchen Assistants perform a range of duties around the kitchen, including:
1. Washing, peeling, and preparing food ingredients
2. Using equipment such as mixers, special knives, and cutters
3. Reviewing kitchen inventory and determining what items are needed
4. Unloading fresh supplies and organising the stockroom
5. Checking sell-by dates and rotating food stock
6. Cleaning kitchen appliances and equipment
7. Observing cooking times and correct temperatures
