Applications are now invited for individuals to join the Scottish Ambulance Service as a Qualified or Trainee Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) at the following stations in the North Region:
* Elgin
* Fraserburgh
* Aviemore
* Golspie
* Wick
It is expected that the start date for successful trainee applicants will be from November 2025. The start date for qualified applicants will depend on previous experience and will be agreed at the time of offer.
The Role
As an ACA, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and safe transportation for non-emergency patients from their homes to hospital and clinic appointments. This role may involve working at various shifts over 7 days and at different stations than your base station. The positions are a mix of part-time and full-time roles.
You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player, and be capable of dealing with a range of vulnerable individuals. This is a vital role within the Service, providing essential services to the people of Scotland.
The Training
As a Trainee, you will be employed from your start date and enrolled in our bespoke clinical and driving program, which lasts approximately 6 months. The initial four weeks will be at one of the Service’s Regional Training Centres. Afterward, you will move to your assigned Ambulance Station.
Qualifications for Qualified ACAs will depend on previous experience.
The Person
This is a varied role, with each day and patient presenting unique challenges. You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate flexibility, and be able to make safe, effective decisions.
We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds. Experience in healthcare or related qualifications, volunteer work, or community involvement would be advantageous.
Minimum Entry Requirements
* Evidence of successful study at SCQF Level 4 (or equivalent) or above in Maths and English.
* Full UK driving license with no more than 4 penalty points.
* Possession of C1 on your driving license at least 6 weeks before the course start date.
Candidates should bring copies and originals of these documents to the fitness test/interview if shortlisted.

Salary
The starting salary for Trainee Care Assistants is £21,748 per annum, increasing to £26,869 after successful training, with further increments up to £28,998.
