Role as an SEMH Assistant
As an SEMH Assistant, you'll be supporting a Year 5 student with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You’ll provide consistent, structured support that helps the child regulate emotions, build resilience, and access learning. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Offering 1:1 support to a student with SEMH needs as their designated SEMH Assistant
* Supporting emotional regulation and promoting social skills
* Helping the student engage with learning in a structured and calm environment
* Using tailored strategies and positive reinforcement to manage behaviour
* Collaborating with teachers, SEN staff, and parents
* Recording progress and assisting with behaviour plans
