Job Description
Our client are a well established and respected Care home in Cwmbran. They are looking for an RGN to work 3 nights a week on a permanent basis.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
1. To support Manager and Clinical Lead in maintaining high standards of care at all times.
2. To act as `Nurse in Charge` in the absence of Senior Nursing Staff, if Level 1.
3. To provide general nursing care for approximately 49 residents.
4. To supervise and, where appropriate, train junior staff.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Ensure a high standard of nursing care is provided to service users at all times.
2.Control and administer drugs in accordance with appropriate regulations.
3.Assist with the staff training and induction of new recruits to the Home.
4.Maintain resident, drug, and other records as appropriate, ensuring that accidents, etc. are properly reported.
5.Take report at the commencement of the shift and give a report at the end of the shift.
6.Ensure adherence to the Codes of Practice laid down by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
7.Instigate nursing care in accordance with General Practitioner instruction and individual care plans.
8.Review and evaluate care plans in compliance with National Minimum Standards.
9.Liaison with GPs and other agencies as required
10.To be a point of contact for service user relatives and representatives
11.Ensure Health and Safety issues are dealt with promptly and all equipment is used in approved manner
12.To deal with grievances and complaints in accordance with the policy of the Home

1. Educational/Qualifications/Knowledge
a)Registered Nursing Level One or Two (E)
b)The ageing process, including the physical and psychological needs of older people (E)
c)Understand the rights of older people (E)
d)Understand the requirement for good Health and Safety practices (E)
2. Experience.
a)Nursing experience in the care of vulnerable adults (D)
b)Be able to demonstrate experience of working in a caring setting. (D)
c)Have worked with older people including people from different cultures (D)
d)Have experience with training or development of junior staff (D)
e)Experience of team working environment (D)
3. Aptitude and Skills.
a)The ability to devise and review care plans based on individual needs (E)
