Electrical Engineer
* Contract Duration: 6 months
* Location: Manchester
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Capital Programmes Division at Manchester City Council. This dynamic service is responsible for developing and delivering major and minor capital programmes across the city, with a current programme value of £200m per annum. The role offers a diverse portfolio, including school maintenance, refurbishment of historic buildings, public realm improvements, and more.
Day‑to‑day of the role:
* Lead and manage a range of technical projects from commencement to completion within approved budgets and timescales.
* Engage in engineering design and project management within various construction projects.
* Inspect and report on defects, new installations, and provide specifications and calculations.
* Conduct feasibility studies on all types of buildings and maintain a good working knowledge of building and planning legislation, CDM Regulations, and PSPC and JCT Building Contracts.
* Utilise CAD and related software packages such as HEVACOMP for design tasks.
* Develop, design, and implement customer‑focused solutions, continually identifying and championing opportunities to deliver improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Accredited engineering degree (CEng/IEng) or an HNC and working towards a degree.
* Competence in engineering design and project management within construction projects.
* Experience with CAD and familiarity with software packages like HEVACOMP.
* Strong understanding of building and planning legislation, CDM Regulations, and various building contracts.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
