A Bed Every Night (ABEN) Worker

Morgan Hunt is working with a leading charity who are looking to recruit an ABEN (A Bed Every Night) Worker for their service in Rochdale. This a permanent position, pending further funding which is currently confirmed until March 2026. The role is a full-time role, working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Their services provide support to individuals affected by domestic abuse and homelessness, improving their safety and life opportunities and supporting them in their recovery.
As an ABEN Worker, you will support a caseload of vulnerable clients across a number of properties who have complex needs.
* Assessing the needs of all clients and, in conjunction with them, devising a support plan to address and identify need.
* Complete risk assessments, incorporating safety planning, and reviewing on a regular basis.
* Signposting clients to external agencies and professionals depending on their need.
* Supporting clients to ensure they have access to the correct benefit entitlement.
* Health and safety of the properties - regular property inspections, reporting repairs and arranging for repairs to be completed.
* Making referrals and working in conjunction with all relevant agencies in the best interest of clients.
* Providing transitional resettlement support to clients moving into independent accommodation.
The candidate
* Extensive understanding of the homelessness sector and the options available to people experiencing homelessness.
* Current knowledge of homelessness, housing, welfare benefits and legislation.
* The ability to assess and respond to safeguarding concerns.
* Knowledge of completing support plans and risk assessments to ensure outcomes are achieved.
* Knowledge of working in a trauma informed way with people who have experienced significant trauma.
* Knowledge and understanding of substance misuse, mental health and domestic abuse.
* Knowledge of outcome-based assessments.
