Overview
Head of Race Strategy - Endurance Racing at McLaren Racing. The role focuses on central strategy decision-making and execution, delivering maximum points on track while ensuring compliance with sporting regulations and contributing to ongoing performance improvements.
Role and Responsibilities
* Deliver and optimise qualifying and race strategies, pitstop analysis and competitor intelligence to maximise on-track performance.
* Oversee trackside Strategy Engineers during events and align strategy decisions with overall team performance goals.
* Lead analysis, meetings and reporting on qualifying and race strategies across race weekends and in preparation periods.
* Develop strategy tools, either through internal programming or by guiding software development with the software team.
* Analyze and track competitor performance live during sessions to inform strategy decisions.
Strategy Analysis & Operations
* Lead ad-hoc analyses or operational investigations on strategy and sporting matters.
* Identify topics for improvement and investigation; contribute to general process, analysis and operations enhancements.
Competitor Analysis
* Lead analysis related to competitor performance and regular reporting of performance measures.
* Develop analysis techniques to improve usefulness and accuracy.
Other Responsibilities
* Contribute to pitstop analysis and improvements.
* Support improvements in the Race Support Room.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Experience in race strategy, sporting matters, pitstop analysis and/or competitor intelligence in a top-tier motorsport championship (F1, FE, WEC etc) is essential.
* A degree in engineering, mathematics or the sciences, or demonstrated depth of technical knowledge.
* Experience in coding/software engineering is highly desirable.
