Overview

We're expanding our Geotechnical Division in the South of England (London or Southampton) and are seeking a Geotechnical Consultant to join us. Geo is a core discipline within Stantec, with support from executive leaders who have risen through our ranks. If you're looking for career progression and the opportunity to work on diverse projects in sectors like renewables, commercial, and aviation, we would like to hear from you. Our geotechnical team undertakes site investigations, interpretation of field data, production of geotechnical design reports, and construction phase support. Some of our forthcoming projects involve large-scale earthworks, including surcharging, ground improvements and interactions with our remediation team. We also develop pioneering systems and promote viable alternatives to the standard approaches, which include challenging brownfield sites, implementation of sustainable solutions and better use of 3D data in our delivery. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has worked in the field for a couple of years and is ready to take that next step in their development.

Responsibilities

* Undertake site investigations, interpretation of field data, production of geotechnical design reports, and provide construction phase support.
* Contribute to projects involving large-scale earthworks, surcharging, ground improvements, and coordination with remediation teams.
* Develop and promote innovative approaches, including challenging brownfield sites and sustainable solutions, with emphasis on the use of 3D data in delivery.
* Provide active support across project delivery, including client liaison and coordination with colleagues from other disciplines.

Qualifications

* Strong foundation in UK-based design practices with an understanding of soil mechanics and soil/structure interaction.
* Experience in preparing ground models and design parameters, including production of professional and technically competent reports.
* Experience analyzing slopes, walls, foundations, and other geotechnical structures.
* Academic qualifications: BEng, BSc, or higher in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, with an ambition to progress towards becoming a Chartered Member of a relevant institution. Alternatively, a first degree in Geology with an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
* Site-based work supervising ground investigation and construction, with understanding of ground investigation techniques.
* Ability to support all aspects of project delivery, including client liaison and coordination with other disciplines.

Software

* Industry-standard tools: Oasys Pile, Alp, PDisp, Adsec, ADC, Rocscience Slide, WALLAP, AutoCAD, and Excel.
* Experience with Plaxis 3D or other Finite Element (FE) software is a plus.
