We’re looking for a strategic, values‑led leader – likely with a background in strategy consulting, professional services, or complex partnership environments – who combines commercial rigour with emotional intelligence and inclusive leadership. Deep expertise in the corporate and commercial landscape, with a proven ability to navigate complexity and build trusted, senior‑level relationships that deliver funding, influence and shared value. Strong experience leading account‑style approaches in large, matrix organisations, including developing stakeholder maps, aligning multiple interests and coordinating activity across teams. A robust understanding of corporate fundraising and partnership models, including corporate partnerships, sponsorship, brand licensing and nature‑based or market‑led mechanisms, and how to deploy them strategically. Proven financial leadership, including setting and managing operating budgets, making sound investment decisions, and holding teams and individuals to account with clarity and confidence. A strong understanding of financial markets and green finance mechanisms, including investment led and blended value approaches. Awareness of emerging markets such as Biodiversity Net Gain and voluntary carbon markets, and the opportunities they present for long-term impact and income.A track record of delivering and growing income from corporate sources across a range of business and partnership models. Knowledge or experience operating within the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Conduct and applying best practice in ethical, responsible fundraising. Above all, you’ll be someone who brings people with you – collaborative, credible, thoughtful and engaging – and who is excited by the opportunity to help the National Trust build deeper, more ambitious and more impactful relationships with the corporate world.Head of Corporate EngagementReporting to the Fundraising & Partnerships Director, you’ll be part of a positive, ambitious and forward‑thinking Fundraising Leadership Team. We’re on a collective journey to grow fundraising in a more joined‑up, audience‑led and impact‑focused way – building trust, simplifying how we work, and creating the conditions for everyone to play a role in success.You’ll work closely with senior colleagues across the organisation, helping to knit together priorities, unlock opportunities and build confidence in how we engage externally. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.You’ll lead and evolve our organisation‑wide approach to corporate engagement, setting a clear strategic direction and building the capability, culture and confidence needed to deliver long‑term growth and impact. You’ll develop and implement a bold corporate engagement and fundraising strategy, overseeing a specialist team spanning corporate partnerships, brand licensing and nature‑based markets. Together, you’ll steward existing relationships and secure new, high‑value opportunities – from major partnerships with leading brands to innovative collaborations in emerging markets. Drawing on a deep understanding of the corporate and professional services landscape, you’ll build strong account‑style relationships, open new markets, and shape compelling propositions that align commercial objectives with the Trust’s strategy. You’ll work comfortably at senior levels, bringing credibility, insight and warmth to conversations with business leaders, Trustees, and external partners. A core part of the role is cultural leadership. You’ll champion a more open, collaborative and outward‑looking way of working – simplifying processes, strengthening cross‑Trust collaboration, and embedding a mindset that values learning, innovation and external perspectives.
