This varied and busy role will see you providing process and scientific support to Wessex Water at wastewater recycling centres in the West Division of Wessex Water. The role offers a mix of office and field-based work, with travel around the Wessex Water region. A car allowance is provided to cover travel costs.
What you'll do
Wessex Water treats 480 million litres of sewage from 2.8 million customers in the South West. Our Scientists help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and prevent environmental impact from operations. Within the Western Science team, you will assist the Area Process Scientists and the local Operations team.
As a Development Process Scientist, you will help ensure compliance with quality standards at water recycling centres, including numerical, descriptive, flow and waste permits. You will assist in planning and delivering measures to improve compliance, reduce operational costs and minimise pollution.
* monitoring the effectiveness of sewage treatment processes
* assisting the Area Process Scientists with their work
* providing process support during operational issues
* providing technical support to operational staff to protect and maintain quality
* liaising with various internal and external stakeholders, including the Environment Agency
What you'll need
To succeed in this role, you will hold a basic knowledge of sewage treatment processes and environmental law, along with a degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
You should be extremely well organised and able to collate, analyse and present scientific data. You will be joining a welcoming and supportive team and should be able to build professional relationships with colleagues and engage with internal stakeholders.
