All About the Role
Reporting to our Group Health & Safety Director, you will be given the training necessary to carry out your role, including mentoring by a strong, established group team. You’ll use the latest in blended learning techniques, to ensure you receive the highest levels of training whilst working on the core business activities. The hours of work are Monday-Friday 8.30 am to 5pm, with one day per week allocated for studies.
Training & duties will include:
1. Supporting the compliance of Group Policies and with all relevant legislation
2. Coordination and administration of all Health and Safety paperwork and matters
3. Reporting, communication, tracking of all defect reports and H&S improvement actions
4. Help to identify and share best practices throughout the Group and to foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the business in respect of the overall Health & Safety Management System
5. Learn to provide guidance and support to operations staff for Risk Assessments, local safe working procedures and incident investigations
6. To record and help analyse incidents and H&S performance, reporting KPIs and communicating performance effectively as required
7. Support the promotion and improvement of safety and awareness
8. To ensure that effective sharing and learning exists across all sites within scope and throughout the Group as appropriate.
9. All relevant administration and communication as required in the role.

Essential Skills for the role:
19. You should be organised and methodical in your approach with a genuine interest in developing a career in Barrett Steel.
20. A confident communicator with a genuine interest in Health & Safety
21. A good level of IT; able to confidently use Microsoft Word and ideally Excel and PowerPoint at a basic level
22. GCSE qualifications in English & Maths ideally at grade 5 or above
23. Live local to either our Bolton or Bradford site
24. A full UK driving license or currently learning to drive.
