Opportunity for a HVAC Lead to join our Life Science team in Oxford. Reporting to the MEP Manager, the HVAC Lead is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.

This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards.


Responsibilities include:

1. Supervise and perform the installation of HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and related components.
2. Diagnose and repair HVAC system issues to ensure optimal performance.
3. Conduct routine maintenance to prevent system malfunctions.
4. Inspect work performed by team members to ensure adherence to specifications and safety standards.
5. Test and verify system functionality using specialized tools and equipment.
6. Recommend and implement system improvements and energy-efficient upgrades.
7. Integrate modern controls and automation systems when applicable.
8. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked.
9. Order necessary equipment and supplies for projects.
10. Prepare reports on project progress, system performance, and team productivity.
11. Chair meetings with sub-contractors.
12. Ensure health and safety standards are met.
13. Perform quality checks (QA/QC) and be familiar with Inspection Test Plans & Records (ITP & ITR).
14. Update progress schedules and report to the planner.
15. Review technical submittals for sign-off against specifications.
16. Conduct RAMS reviews for high-risk lifts (e.g., crane operations) and installations at height.
17. Oversee delivery of capital plant.
18. Understand typical codes such as DW143, 144.
19. Perform L2 pressure testing of AHUs.
20. Carry out TR19 duct cleaning.


Qualifications & Experience:

* 6+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance.
* 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
* Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and energy-efficient technologies.
* Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in HVAC software and tools (e.g., load calculation tools, CMMS).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to give clear instructions to team members.
* Willingness to work away from base if required.
* Diploma or equivalent; a technical degree in HVAC or related field preferred.
* Certified HVAC Technician (EPA 608 Certification required; NATE certification preferred).
