Job summary
The Children's Community Nursing pathway works across Devon to provide a high quality, responsive and dynamic service for children and young people in the community setting.
We are looking for a Children's Nurse RSCN or RN (child) with experience, knowledge and skills in nursing children with palliative and complex health needs to join our Children's Community Nurse team. The position would support children living across Devon.
You should have proven experience of working with children who have acute and complex medical conditions and be confident in providing training to their carers. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work well within a team environment, be able to work autonomously and ideally have community nursing experience.
We are particularly keen to recruit someone with respiratory interest and experience of children and young people with tracheostomy and /or long term ventilation needs in addition to those with an interest or experience in palliative care.
This fixed term position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to add community experience to their portfolio.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide specialist nursing support, advice and interventions within the multiagency ethos of children and family health services for children and their families.
2. To assist in promoting the health and well-being of children with complex nursing needs, to enable them to achieve the maximum benefit from their educational opportunities.
3. To provide case management of an identified caseload of children with highly complex and/or long term conditions by utilising and promoting evidence based care.
4. To provide nursing care, support, training, advice and education to children, families and carers in order to meet the children's health needs in the school and community environment.
5. To provide children and young people with the opportunity to express their views in an individually appropriate way, having to have their opinions taken into account to develop the services
6. To support symptom management at end of life within the community setting including providing on call cover for provision of care outside of normal working hours

9. Community Specialist Practitioner Degree or diploma (or substantial documented experience of working in the community).
10. Degree level qualification in nursing.
11. Non-medical prescriber V100 or V300
