Quantity Surveyor / QS
About The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of lifecycle projects, contract variations, and capital works across multiple contracts. Working closely with the Projects, Commercial, and Operational Teams, the Quantity Surveyor will provide critical support in subcontractor management, profit improvement, risk and opportunity management, and ensuring contractual compliance.
As a key member of the senior Project Management Team, you will play a vital role in enhancing project efficiency and ensuring delivery against financial objectives. You will guide the planning and implementation of lifecycle programming, minor works, and major project delivery, always with a focus on value for money and cost-effectiveness.
The role involves managing external consultants and contractors and liaising regularly with clients and stakeholders. Compliance with GFM and service user policies in alignment with ISO 9001 and 14001 standards is essential. All service deliverables must meet statutory and contractual requirements.
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (MondayFriday), with core working hours between 08:00 and 18:00. Flexibility is essential to accommodate national travel and occasional collaboration with overseas partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain up-to-date lifecycle programs and ensure all procurement activities are auditable and demonstrate value for money
Manage and maintain a vetted list of approved contractors and ensure tendering processes are compliant and fully auditable
Contribute to bid preparation and submission for new contracts
Maintain comprehensive asset and lifecycle plans for all contracted properties, including detailed surveys and documentation of service points
Deliver consistently high-quality service to clients
Review all subcontractor deliverables before submission to clients
Ensure all legal and contractual documentation is in place for all project works
Keep project documentation current, complete, and properly recorded (e.g., drawings, room data sheets)
Demonstrate a strong understanding of GFM pricing models and contractual margins across lifecycle, new works, damage, and vandalism
Monitor lifecycle budgets to ensure they are adhered to and not exceeded
Provide annual and five-year lifecycle plans in line with contractual requirements
Coordinate with the Accounts team to ensure timely recharges for lifecycle works, patient damage, vandalism, etc
Identify and support the implementation of remedial action plans when required
Produce monthly reports detailing activities, risks, and key issues in the Lifecycle/Projects domain
Respond promptly and professionally to queries from both internal and external stakeholders
Provide analytical support for proposals, contract negotiations, and tender submissions
Ensure timely submission of documentation to enable invoicing and recharging processes
Calculate and record changes to PPM requirements and costs as requested by clients
Consistently model and promote the companys core values and commitment to safety, quality, and integrity
About You:
Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role, ideally within facilities, construction, or asset-intensive environments
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work across project, commercial, and operational teams
Able to adapt quickly to changing specifications and deliver updated costings, feasibility reviews, and proposals with a focus on quality and compliance
Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and equitably, internally and externally, while protecting the companys commercial interests
Commercially astute, capable of identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to improve performance and manage risks
Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to doing whats right
Takes personal accountability, with a drive to exceed expectations while ensuring safety and quality are never compromised
