You will be part of a wider team of 15 associates, with 9 in your direct team and 6 in a partnering team located in the same building on campus. Both teams are close-knit, often sharing breaks and lunches together. The team is dedicated to providing operational support to laboratories on-site.
We are part of our Lab and Production Services department, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide, helping to advance research and development in the Life Sciences industry.
Responsibilities:
* Perform routine laboratory support tasks, including equipment checks, reagent preparation, and general housekeeping, in compliance with GMP and Health & Safety standards
* Manage laboratory supplies using systems like Kanban and CISPro, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to regulatory requirements
* Conduct preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure operational efficiency and compliance
* Laundry management duties, distributing clean lab coats and ordering new ones as required
* Daily use of the Kanban system to maintain the supply of laboratory chemicals, solvents, plates, purchased media, and consumables across multiple labs
* Prepare and label buffers, media, and reagents using electronic lab notebooks, ensuring accurate batch records and traceability
Requirements:
* A scientific background or experience is not essential, but would be an advantage for this role. We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are looking to transition into a scientific environment
* Education: GCSEs in English & maths are required, and desirable in science subjects
* Experience: Knowledge of Health & Safety, laboratory operations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is advantageous
* Understanding & experience of customer-facing service, including roles in hospitality, retail, or warehouse settings. Awareness of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
* Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and inventory/tracking systems
* Excellent time-management skills and attention to detail
