The role as a Youth Worker will take place in a specialist school, where you will support students between the ages of 2 and 19. There is a primary and secondary site, so you will have the option of deciding where you feel most comfortable to work.
The school looks after children and young people who have been identified as having social, emotional and mental health needs. These children also have learning difficulties, and some have been diagnosed with Autism or Down's syndrome.
To be successful in this role as a Youth Worker, you will need to be kind and compassionate, caring, and take initiative well. You will also need to problem solve well and be able to adapt your approach to meet the needs of the children.
It is also of paramount importance that you are well aware of the importance of safeguarding children in education.
