Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Devonport Docks, Plymouth (Hybrid working available)
Rate: £350 - £400/day ltd (subject to IR35 assessment)
Expenses: Travel and lodge expenses paid
The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support works at Devonport Docks, one of the UK’s most secure and complex operational environments. This is a hybrid role, combining site-based support with remote working where appropriate.
You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation, promoting a strong safety culture, and supporting operational teams in delivering work safely and efficiently within a high-security setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide competent health and safety advice across site activities
Support the development, review, and implementation of RAMS
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Investigate incidents and near misses, producing clear reports and corrective actions
Engage with stakeholders, contractors, and operational teams to promote best practice
Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation and client safety standards
Essential Requirements
Proven experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role, ideally within construction, engineering, defence, or heavy industry
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential
Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation
Ability to work effectively in a high-security, regulated environment
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Security Clearance Requirement
Due to the nature of the site, candidates must be British nationals or NATO nationals and be eligible to obtain the required security clearance.
