Job Overview
We are looking for a Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer in the stores and distribution area at University Hospital of North Midlands. The role delivers ward services and supports patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
Key Responsibilities
* Telephone duties: answer queries and take ad hoc orders.
* Assemble orders for distribution to wards and dispensaries.
* Receive medicines for onward supply to wards and departments.
* Order and supply stock for wards.
* Maintain stock storage levels and adhere to good distribution practice.
* Assist in maintaining stock levels on wards by participating in the pharmacy ward top‑up service.
* Operate the automated dispensing robot on a day‑to‑day basis.
* Process ward orders and external stock requisitions, liaising with clinical teams, ward staff, and external customers to resolve queries and ensure timely medication delivery.
* Work collaboratively with pharmacy team members (Assistant Technical Officers, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists) and internal stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience
* Previous experience in a similar pharmacy environment.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Methodical, accurate, and able to follow strict procedures.
* Ability to work unsupervised to required deadlines.
* Good IT skills, problem‑solving abilities, and initiative.
* Willingness to work across different areas within pharmacy.
Training & Development
Specific training will be provided in all areas to develop skills further. The directorate promotes ongoing development, education and training opportunities.
